Miss Moneypennys

The Miss Moneypennys calendar

Much like the character in the James Bond films from which the name is taken, Miss Moneypenny's the club brand has maintained a wholly unnatural level of glamorous reinvention. Promotional outfits can spring up, get shot down and die within a year, but Miss Moneypenny's has been going for 20. The house night began in 1986 as a collaboration between three brothers, Mick, Jim and Dermot Ryan, and one other brother, the big, brown and beautiful Lee Garrick. It took the energy of the nascent rave scene and married it to brash Midlands glam with a series of parties on ships, in stately homes and other visually impressive locations, top flight clubs, Ibiza and around the world. In 2003 they bought their old host venue and renamed it HQ and threw parties their for three years. Now HQ is out of commission, MM are on the look out for another building. "I don't think any of us involved in Moneypenny's ever expected to be where we are today," says resident dj Jim 'Shaft' Ryan, "putting out compilation albums, having our own singles label, producing our own music and gigging all over the world. It has been a fabulous journey, lets hope there is a few more miles left to go."
